Holy mother of crap ... it's RUSH!!!

"Everyone would gather on the 24th of May ... sitting in the sand to watch the fireworks display."
-- Rush, from Lakeside Park

OK ... so now, just substitute the MTS Centre in Winnipeg for Lakeside Park, then swap Rush for fireworks, and we're off!

Last Saturday, Rush played Winnipeg for the first time since 1982 ... and perhaps more importantly, I crossed off the last group on my list of "bands I absolutely have to see perform live before a giant bird swoops down and carries me off in its talons."

Rush! WOOOOOOOOO! Granted, if I had my act together when I was younger, I would have seen them at the Agridome in 1977 when they toured in support of A Farewell To Kings ... but I was five years old and a little preoccupied with my Grade 1 phonics classes. Well, whatever. It was so worth the wait! Two sets over three hours, including 27 songs and one ridiculously long drum solo. Someday, linguists will agree upon a word that adequately describes how awesome they were. I was actually shaking after the first set.

The set list:

Limelight
Digital Man
Ghost of a Chance
Mission
Freewill
The Main Monkey Business
The Larger Bowl
Red Barchetta
The Trees
Between The Wheels
Dreamline

(Intermission)

Far Cry
Workin' Them Angels
Armor and Sword
Spindrift
The Way The Wind Blows
Subdivisions
Natural Science
Witch Hunt
Malignant Narcissism
Drum Solo
Hope
The Spirit of Radio
2112 (Overture, Temples of Syrinx ... that's the clip above)
Tom Sawyer

(Encore)
One Little Victory
A Passage To Bangkok
YYZ

I know I'm a complete dork for putting the whole set list up, but I don't care. It's RUSH! WOOOOOOOOO!
